Sensoria Corporation, developer of the Sensoria Telematics Environment, today announced a partnership with the premier application service provider for the automotive aftermarket MechanicNet Group Inc., to enable a diagnostic service in vehicles that monitors data from on-board systems, alerts drivers to trouble, describes the problems and their urgency, and passes the information to a selected service dealer.
Sensoria will demonstrate the MechanicNet services in a vehicle outfitted with the Sensoria Telematics Environment during the Society of Automotive Engineers Digital Car show March 4 to 7, 2002 at the Cobo Center in Detroit (booth #5011). Also being demonstrated are off-board navigation and mobile content services including news, weather, sports and traffic reports.
“As the consumer, service dealer, and parts vendor are notified of the impending repair, uncertainty and urgency are reduced”, explains Steven Liao, president of MechanicNet. “ This benefits the driver and service provider alike by improving communications and lowering repair time and costs.” MechanicNet provides technology solutions to service dealers in over 20 states and Canada.
“Sensoria and MechanicNet have enabled a fully functioning system for gathering real data from the car,” explains Dave Gelvin, president and CEO of Sensoria Corp. “Our open platform gives drivers access to important diagnostic information, but the real value-added feature for consumers is its support of innovative yet practical services like MechanicNet’s that provide detailed repair information and service locations when that information is most needed.”
Analysts are predicting great consumer demand for remote vehicle diagnostics once these services become more commonplace. Frost & Sullivan (www.transportation.frost.com) projects North American remote vehicle diagnostics market will increase steadily to $2.38 billion by 2007from revenues of $360 million in 2000.
