FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ELK GROVE, California - June 2, 2000
ALLDATA, the worldwide market leader in publishing
computer-based diagnostic, repair and estimating information,
technical service bulletins, recalls and maintenance schedules for
automotive service providers, today announced a strategic alliance
with MechanicNet, an emerging online exchange that provides
individually-branded Web sites and eCommerce capabilities for
repair shops.
"Automotive repair professionals and their vehicle owner
customers are asking for online solutions like this strategic
relationship will provide," said Brett Easley, ALLDATA's
President, Customer Satisfaction. "Using the Internet can
improve the scheduling and repair experiences between vehicle
owners and repair shops by allowing information exchange and
dialogue to take place over the Internet."
MechanicNet and ALLDATA are cooperating in providing
technology and information that help shops build long-term
relationships with their vehicle owner customers. The initial
offerings will be available in June 2000.
This new form of interaction will better prepare the vehicle
owner for the work that needs to be completed and provide more
information to the shop about the vehicle problem. Internet-based
communication, for example, allows for advance parts ordering and
can better prepare the technicians to complete the repair.
"Our goal is to bridge the communication gap that often
exists between automotive repair professionals and vehicle owners,"
said Steve Liao, President and CEO, MechanicNet. "This
strategic partnership will foster the development of seamless,
Internet-based communications, closing the information gaps that
often exist between these two groups in the automotive
aftermarket."
