ALLDATA, a market leader in computer-based diagnostic, repair,
and estimating information, has formed four key partnerships to
expand its presence across a number of segments of the ever-changing
e-commerce aftermarket.
ALLDATA's recently announced partnership with InfoMove
(a wireless-based service providing location-specific content in the car)
will make it possible for drivers to receive real-time maintenance and
diagnostic information in their vehicles as well as announcements of
maintenance schedules and suggested repair options while on the road.
In case of a repair emergency, the driver can be directed (using InfoMove's
GPS System) to their preferred ALLDATA repair facilities. This system will
also make it much easier for shops to diagnose intermittent problems not
captured by the engine control module for later review.
ALLDATA's strategic alliance with CustomerLink Systems (a leading provider
of customer relationship management and marketing services) will make it
possible to deliver highly specific maintenance reminders to consumers
on behalf of their preferred automotive service provider. This will help
increase customer loyalty with specific shops as well as improve the level
of maintenance among vehicles in operation.
ALLDATA is also partnered with MechanicNet whose President and CEO,
Steve Liao, believes this relationship will help "bridge the communication
gap which often exists between automotive repair professionals and vehicle
owners." Car owners can do a preliminary diagnosis of vehicle problems,
using the service installers branded web site provided by MechanicNet,
as well as schedule appointments for vehicle service.
ALLDATA has also formed a partnership with ToolSource.com (see eA's July 1st
profile of ToolSource.com). This relationship will provide repair shops with
integrated access to tools needed for specific procedures referred to in
ALLDATA's diagnostic and repair information. "Having the right tool for
the right job minimizes time and maximizes profit," said David Lokes,
ToolSource.com's Executive Vice President.
Through these four partnerships, ALLDATA has expanded its presence in
the marketplace from providing technical and repair information to shop
technicians to improving the relationship between shops and vehicle owners,
providing real-time vehicle operation and diagnostic information to
consumers in their vehicles, as well as assisting vehicle owners in scheduling
maintenance and providing information on the right tools to mechanics
performing that maintenance. This is a case study in how to improve and
expand competitive positioning in the fast-changing e-commerce aftermarket
through Partnering.
ALLDATA and its partners will be at the AAPEX Show in Booth L-6307 at the
Las Vegas Convention Center (SEMA area).
